CORE Registry and COREhub Registrar Platforms ready for IDNs

ICANN recently commissioned a thorough test of a Registry and Registrar platforms to assist the technical community in identifying Universal Acceptance (UA) issues associated with domain names in non-latin script (also known as Internationalized Domain Names or IDNs).To do this, CORE’s member and technical provider Knipp Medien und Kommunikatio ran a series of tests on CORE’s Registry Platform as well as on COREhub Registrar Platform (GatewayNG).

The test results, and specific examples, were presented by Dr. Michael Bauland at ICANN75 in Kuala Lumpur before the technical community. As Dr. Bauland explained, the results showed that CORE’s Registry and COREhub’s Registrar Platforms (GatewayNG) are remarkably advanced in Universal Acceptance, and after a few small tweaks to correct some minor issues, both platforms satisfactorily passed all the tests.

Since the beginning, CORE has strongly advocated and been committed to the introduction and normalization of IDNs on the Internet (having in fact three TLDs in non-latin script of its own – .онлайн , .сайт , and بازار. ) and is proud to offer Registry and Registrar solutions that are Universal Acceptance robust, thus, making our commitment that the Internet should not only be in latin-script a reality.
